This December, In Her Shoes wanted to bring joy to women in need during the holiday season. We collaborated with I Support the Girls Foundation (ISTG) to organize a comprehensive care package drive aimed at supporting underprivileged girls and women in the Tampa Bay area. The initiative focused on providing essential items to those in need while also raising awareness about the challenges faced by women and girls who lack access to basic hygiene products.
“I Support the Girls – Tampa Bay” actively donates to a wide variety of organizations and programs, including schools, group homes, domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, safe houses for runaway teens, migrant workers, and individuals affected by natural disasters such as Hurricanes Helene, Milton, Ian, and Idalia. Through its efforts, ISTG Tampa Bay has made a meaningful impact on the community, ensuring that essential items reach those who need them most.
Members of In Her Shoes collected, organized, and carefully sorted through donations generously provided by the Steinbrenner High School and greater Tampa Bay community. The donated items included a wide range of necessities such as feminine hygiene products, dental care items, hairbrushes, shampoo, bandages, and many other personal care essentials.
Volunteers then assembled more than 60 individual care kits, thoughtfully including not only essential items but also candy and handwritten notes to add a personal touch and provide encouragement to the recipients. During the service event, ISTG Tampa Bay Regional Director Rosie Gavin delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the importance of giving back and inspiring volunteers with stories about the positive impact these donations have on the lives of women and girls in need.
The event not only provided material support but also strengthened community engagement, highlighting how collective efforts can create meaningful change.
